The bushings on a lower control arm provide vibration dampening for the front suspension. As these bushings wear down, more vibrations can be felt in the front end, until it eventually makes steering and controlling the vehicle difficult. If you start to notice wear in your lower control arm bushings, remove the bushings from the arms so that you can replace them with new ones.
Place the lower control arm into the press. Position the bottom press brackets so that they are touching the steel sections around the bushings but not the bushings themselves.
Install a circular fitting onto the end of the bearing press, one that is approximately the same diameter as the bushing. Lower the press until the circular fitting touches the bushing.
Pump down the press until the fitting compresses the bushing. Keep pumping to push the bushing out of the lower control arm.
Repeat Steps 1-3 for the remaining bushing on the lower control arm.
