How to Remove a Clutch Pedal Assembly on a Silverado

Most Chevrolet Silverados come with an automatic transmission, but some rare manual models do exist. These use a clutch pedal to control the transmission and help the driver shift through gears. If you want to turn your manual into an automatic or you just need to strip down the interior of your truck, you can remove the clutch pedal assembly with just a few tools and some time.

Things You'll Need

  • Flashlight
  • Flat-head screwdriver
  • 3/8-inch ratchet and socket set
  • Lay on your side and use the flashlight to illuminate the top of the clutch pedal assembly, underneath the dashboard. Push in the clutch pedal with one hand, then push in the pushrod bushing tabs located at the top of the clutch pedal with your other hand. This disconnects the clutch pedal from the clutch master cylinder.

  • Unbolt the clutch pedal assembly from the chassis using the 3/8-inch ratchet and socket.

  • Lift the pedal carefully out and away from under the dashboard, being careful not to catch or pull any electrical components along the way.
