How to Remove a GMC 2500HD's Grill

The front grill on a GMC 2500HD pickup is designed to protect the radiator from damage but still allow proper airflow to the radiator. Because of its placement in the front of the pickup truck, it can get damaged in an accident fairly easily. If the grill does get damaged, it's best to remove it so you can replace it with a new one.

Things You'll Need

  • Slotted screwdriver
  • 3/8-inch ratchet and socket set
  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Open the hood. Remove the black plastic clips securing the plastic trim panel located between the grill and the core support using the slotted screwdriver to pry off the clips. Pull the plastic trim panel away from the core support.

  • Unbolt the top of the grill from the core support and the hood latch support using the three-eighths-inch ratchet and socket.

  • Turn the screws just inboard of the corner lenses on the bottom of the grill one quarter turn in either direction to release the grill from the core support.

  • Pull the corners of the grill away from the fenders quickly using your hands to release the clips from the fenders. Pull the entire grill assembly away from the front of the truck.
