The Ford F-150 is the most popular model of pickup truck sold by the Ford Motor Co. The truck is known for its durability and ability to transport heavy materials. The ignition switch on the F-150 contains an ignition lock, which prevents use by anyone who does not have a key. If you have owned your F-150 for any significant period of time, the ignition switch may have failed after prolonged use, requiring replacement.
Insert the key for your F-150, and turn the ignition switch to the "Run" position without starting the truck.
Push a 1/8-inch drill bit into the hole beneath the ignition switch, and push upward until it depresses the ignition switch retaining pin.
Pull the ignition switch out of the steering column.
Insert your key into the new ignition switch, and set it to the "Run" position followed by pressing the retaining pin with your finger.
Push the ignition switch into the steering column until seated, and turn your key to the "Off" position.
Test the new ignition switch by starting your F-150.
