How to Install a New Bumper on a Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo

The bumpers on the Jeep Grand Cherokee are made up of a PVC bumper cover or fascia that installs over the frame of the Jeep. The fascia is attached with plastic rivets and a few screws that are all available from the dealer should you need them. Replacement fascias are available from a Jeep dealer, aftermarket reproduction parts manufacturer or salvage yard. Obtain any hardware you need before starting the installation so you don't have to stop for parts halfway through the job.

Things You'll Need

  • Screwdriver
  • Metric socket set
  • Slide the fascia or bumper cover onto the frame at the front of your Jeep Grand Cherokee. Engage the fascia into the tabs on the lower front fenders.

  • Align the holes in the center of the fascia with the mounting holes in the upper radiator cross member and insert the 2 mounting screws located at the top of the cross member. Insert 2 more screws in through the grill and into the mounting tabs on the radiator support. Tighten all 4 screws using a Phillips head screwdriver.

  • Install the 2 bolts that attach the fascia to the front fenders, working under the wheel well. The bolt holes are located on the back edge of the fender near the wheel opening. Tighten the bolts with a socket and ratchet.

  • Install the plastic push pins that secure the wheel well liner to the edge of the fascia (they look like a plastic rivet); apply pressure to push into the hole.

  • Install the plastic push pins that hold the fascia to the lower radiator support from the front of the vehicle. Again, these just push into the holes and snap into place.
