Air conditioner problems in cars can be quite common, with many possible causes. Sometimes the problems can be very easy to fix. You can potentially save yourself thousands of dollars by troubleshooting air conditioner problems in your Chevy Avalanche.
Check the temperature controls to make sure they feel right. If they are not working the same as they did before the air conditioning went out, then it is as simple as a fuse problem.
Find the fuse box in a Chevy Avalanche on the passenger side of the center console near the floor. The fuse that controls the air conditioning is number 10. Replace it with one of the replacement fuses available, which are numbers 2 through 5.
Lift the hood of the car with the engine off and first look for visual clues as to what the problem may be. Look at the compressor. It is cylindrical in shape, sits directly next to the engine and has a belt. Make sure the belt is intact and there is no rust.
Listen for the blower motor to make sure that it is running, but not overly loud. Step into the car and play with the air controls on the dashboard to make sure the blower motor is making the appropriate increases and decreases in volume.
Check the control cables that circulate the air next. The control panel needs to be removed first. Find the cable that extends from the heating and air conditioning unit. It is small and black. Inspect it along with its connections to make sure there are no leaks.
