How to Replace a Wiper Pulse Control Board in a Chevy 1500 Truck

The wiper pulse control board on your Chevroler 1500 truck is essential for the operation of your vehicle's windshield wipers. If the control board becomes damaged, you will have to replace it as soon as you can in order to use your wipers. Thankfully, the procedure is relatively simple and you will not need to remove various components to access the control board. It should only take half an hour at most to replace your Chevy 1500's wiper pulse control board.

Things You'll Need

  • Socket wrench
  • Phillips-head screwdriver
  • Make sure that the wipers are in the parked position. If they are not, turn the engine on and operate the wipers until both are horizontal and seated at the bottom of the windshield.

  • Open the hood and disconnect the truck's negative battery cable using a socket wrench.

  • Disconnect the wiring connector at the wiper motor, which is located at the rear of the engine compartment. Remove the hoses from the wiper washer pump.

  • Remove the driver-rod attaching screws from the wiper arm using a Phillips-head screwdriver. Remove the driver-rod from the wiper arm.

  • Remove the screws securing the wiper pulse control board which is next to the motor, and remove it from the assembly. Install a new wiper pulse control board and secure it by reattaching the screws.

  • Reattach the drive-rod to the wiper arm. Reconnect the hoses to the washer pump and the wiring connector to the motor.

  • Reconnect the negative battery cable and close the hood.
