How to Install a Chevy Lumina Side Mirror

In order to install a new side mirror on your Chevy Lumina, you must dismantle the door to gain access to the bolts securing the old mirror. Once you have removed the interior door panel, you will be able to remove the securing bolts, pull off the old mirror, and install a new mirror, all within one hour. If you install a power mirror, you will also need to connect the mirror's electrical wiring.

Things You'll Need

  • Socket wrench
  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Slotted screwdriver
  • Lift up the Lumina's hood and use a socket wrench to pull off the battery's negative-cable.

  • Use a slotted screwdriver to pry off the door locking knob, the trim cover from the assist strap, and the armrest panel.

  • Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the screws from the armrest, the lower edge of the trim panel, the upper edge of the trim panel, and the door handle cover.

  • Pry off the door trim panel with a slotted screwdriver and pull it off the door to access the side mirror.

  • Remove the three bolts from the Lumina's side mirror with a socket wrench and pull it toward you. Disconnect the side mirror's wiring harness by pulling it off the mirror and pull the old mirror off the door.

  • Install a replacement side mirror to the door and reattach the wiring harness. Reinstall the three bolts to secure the mirror to the door.

  • Reattach the door trim panel and its screws. Reinstall all of the door's components. Reattach the negative-cable to the battery and close the hood.
