How to Troubleshoot the Tucson Hyundai Interior Lights

There are two types of interior lights on the Hyundai Tucson: the lights in the passenger's compartment and the lights in the luggage compartment. Both lights may fail for the same reasons: faulty bulbs or faulty fuses. The solution is to replace the faulty component. Both lights use S8.5/8.5 bulbs and the fuse for the interior lighting is located in the engine compartment of the Tucscon.

Things You'll Need

  • Clean gloves
  • Slotted screwdriver
  • New bulbs

Luggage Compartment Lights

  • Turn the Tucson's engine off and open the trunk. Put on the clean gloves. Remove the cover off the lamp with a slotted screwdriver.

  • Reach behind the lamp assembly and disconnect the power cord. Pull the assembly out and remove the bulb from the assembly. Install a new bulb by pushing it into the assembly. Reattach the cover to the trunk. If this does not work, try replacing the fuse.

  • Close the trunk and open the hood. Locate the fuse-box on the driver's side, behind the battery. Remove the cover.

  • Pull the "Room Lp" fuse out of the fuse-box and install a new 10A fuse in its place. Reattach the cover to the fuse-box and close the hood.

Passenger Compartment Lights

  • Turn the Tucson's engine off and open the trunk. Put on the clean gloves. Remove the cover of the passenger compartment lights with a slotted screwdriver.

  • Pull the old bulb outs and install new ones. Reattach the cover. If the lights are still malfunctioning, the problem is with the fuse.

  • Open the hood. Locate the fuse-box on the driver's side, behind the battery. Remove the cover.

  • Pull the "Room Lp" fuse out of the fuse-box and install a new 10A fuse in its place. Reattach the cover to the fuse-box and close the hood.
