Instructions for Changing a Flat Tire on 2004 Nissan Quest

It is important to know how to properly change a flat tire. The 2004 Nissan Quest minivan has a spare tire in a compartment below the second row seats. You will have to jack your vehicle up in order to change the flat tire.

Things You'll Need

  • Spare tire
  • Car jack
  • Wheel nut wrench
  • Park the vehicle on a leveled surface. If possible, drive into a parking lot. Turn the vehicle off and remove the key from the ignition.

  • Open the hood of the vehicle and leave it open. This signals to others that you're performing maintenance on your vehicle.

  • Move the front seats forward as far as they can go. Locate the lever on the base of the second row passenger's side chair. Lift the lever and push the seat forward.

  • Lift the carpet and remove the compartment door below the seat. Remove the car jack from the compartment. Locate the spare tire compartment between the first and second row seats and remove the flat tire kit as well as the spare tire.

  • Slightly loosen the flat tire wheel nuts using the wheel nut wrench. Do not remove the nuts.

  • Locate the jack-up point closest to the flat tire. Place the car jack below the point and turn the jack lever and rod clockwise to raise the vehicle off the ground. Raise the vehicle only approximately 2 inches off the ground.

  • Remove the tire nuts from the flat tire and place them to the side. Lift and remove the wheel from the axle. Place the spare tire on the axle of the vehicle and tighten the wheel nuts to the spare using the wheel nut wrench.

  • Place the spare tire on the axle of the vehicle and tighten the wheel nuts to the spare using the wheel nut wrench. Slowly tighten each wheel nut a little at a time onto the axle alternating between one nut and another across from it.

  • Turn the jack lever and rod counter-clockwise to lower the vehicle once the spare tire is secured on the vehicle. Remove the car jack and replace the car jack, wheel nut wrench and other tools in the car.
