How to Replace the Side View Mirror on a 2008 Honda Civic

If one of your Civic's side view mirrors have been damaged in an accident, you need to replace it right away. It is illegal to drive without side view mirrors. You do not have to pay a professional to change your Honda's mirror. You can do it yourself with just a couple tools.

Things You'll Need

  • Replacement mirror
  • Screwdriver
  • 10 millimeter socket wrench
  • Roll down the window on the side of the mirror that you want to replace.

  • Disconnect the negative cable from the battery under the hood.

  • Wedge the screwdriver between the corner panel covering the mirror (on the inside) and the door, and pull the panel off.

  • Disconnect the clip that is holding the mirror's wires and the door's wires.

  • Hold the mirror with one hand and unscrew the three bolts attached to the mirror with the other hand.

  • Attach the new mirror in the old one's place and screw the three bolts back on.

  • Reconnect the clip to re-attach the wires and replace the panel.

  • Reconnect the negative cable to the battery.

  • Start your car and move the mirror to test it.
