How to Remove the Taillight Lens From a 2007 Dodge Nitro

The Dodge Nitro is a full-sized SUV released by Dodge in 2007. The tail light housing on your Nitro contains your reverse lights, turn lights and brake lights. The lens is made of durable plastic. However, it can get cracked. If the cover lens on your Nitro ever does get cracked you should change out the whole assembly because the crack will allow moisture to seep into your tail light assembly. This can not only short out your tail lights but can also short out your entire electrical system, eventually.

Things You'll Need

  • Socket set
  • Screwdriver
  • Replacement tail light assembly
  • Open your hood and remove the negative battery cable.

  • Open your Nitro's rear hatch and locate the two screws that hold your light assembly in place.

  • Loosen the screws with a screwdriver. Pull the assembly forward and disconnect all three light connectors from their individual housing holes.

  • Insert and install the three lights into their three respective housing holes on the replacement assembly.

  • Slip the housing back into position and replace the screws that hold it into place. Replace your negative battery cable.
