How to Replace the Dash Light on an Acura TL

The Acura TL is a mid-sized sports car produced by Acura since 1996. The Acura TL has several lights on its instrument cluster contained within the dashboard of the driver's side of the vehicle. To replace these dash lights, the dashboard needs to be removed from the Acura. The Acura TL uses size 74 bulbs for its dash lights. If you want your dash lights to last even longer, consider using LED bulbs instead.

Things You'll Need

  • Socket wrench
  • Phillips screwdriver
  • 74-size bulbs
  • Open the Acura TL's hood and use a socket wrench to disconnect the battery. Remove the negative terminal first.

  • Loosen the three screws on the upper driver's side dashboard, then the three screws on the lower driver's side dashboard with a Phillips screwdriver. Remove the dashboard trim.

  • Loosen the fours screws on the instrument cluster. Pull the cluster out of the Acura TL and disconnect the wiring harness from the rear of the panel. Remove the cluster from the vehicle.

  • Pull the bulbs out of their sockets and push the new bulbs into the sockets to install them. Replace all the burned out bulbs. Place the instrument cluster back into the Acura TL and reconnect the wiring harness. Reinstall the four screws.

  • Reattach the upper and lower dashboard trim and reinstall the six screws. Reconnect the battery.
