How to Replace the Instrument Panel Bulbs on a Suburban

The Chevrolet Suburban has several small bulbs in its instrument panel. These bulbs serve several purposes. Some of them are used as indicator lights when something is wrong with your Suburban. Other bulbs merely light up the odometer and fuel gauge. Regardless, they are important for your safety and should be replaced as soon as possible if they burn out. The tools required for the process are a socket wrench and a Phillips screwdriver.

Things You'll Need

  • Socket wrench
  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Remove the four bolts from the lower portion of the dashboard, and pull it out of the vehicle.

  • Unscrew the six screws surrounding the dash bezel, and pull it out of the vehicle.

  • Remove the four bolts from the instrument panel, and pull it out of the vehicle. Remove the electrical connector from the rear of the instrument panel.

  • Pull any burned-out bulbs off the instrument panel, and replace them with new bulbs.

  • Place the instrument panel back into the vehicle, and reinstall the four bolts.

  • Reattach the bezel, and reinstall the six screws.

  • Reattach the lower portion of the dashboard, and reinstall the four bolts.
