How to Change the Console Lights on a 2005 Chrysler Town & Country

The console, or dash light, in the 2005 Chrysler Town & Country rests inside the dash panel, behind the upper bezel. It may seem complicated to replace this bulb, but once you start the task, you will realize that the process is relatively straightforward. In fact, the process does not require the use of any tools to complete. The console light bulb needs to be replaced if the console light does not turn on when the headlights are turned on.

Things You'll Need

  • Replacement console bulb
  • Locate the steering wheel height adjuster on the bottom of the steering wheel, then pull the lever down to loosen the steering column. Lower the steering wheel to its lowest position.

  • Grasp the upper plastic bezel, just below the top of the dash, and pull straight out on it. The dash bezel has metal retaining clips on its back. Pull the clips out of the dash when pulling out on the bezel. Continue to work your way around the dash bezel until all of the clips are released from the dash. Set the dash bezel off to the side.

  • Locate the bulb socket on the underside of the dash, in the center of the gauge cluster. Pull the bulb out of the socket and replace it with a new one.

  • Place the dash bezel in place and push the tabs into the dash. They will lock in place when you push them in.

  • Raise the steering wheel to your desired height and lock it in place.
