How to Replace a 1998 Chevy Truck Glove Box

The glove box hides many items inside the dash of a 1998 Chevy truck. The cabin filter, linkable fuses and heater core are all located behind the glove box. Removal of the glove box takes basic tools and just a few minutes of time. This makes the job an easy one for beginning do-it-yourselfers looking to save some money by tackling automotive repairs on their own.

Things You'll Need

  • Screwdriver
  • Open the glove box and remove all of its contents.

  • Push in on the sides of the door and pull down on the door. The side panels have prongs on them that prevent the door from opening all the way. By pushing in on the sides of the door, it allows you to bring the prongs past the side of the glove box and lower the door all the way.

  • Remove the screws that secure the top of the glove box to the bottom of the dash using a screwdriver.

  • Pull the box down until you can see the wiring harness for the glove box light. Pull the harness off the light socket.

  • Pull the glove box down and away from the dash.
