How to Repair a Broken Honda Pilot Mirror

The mirror on the Honda Pilot is designed to take a moderate amount of impact. However, if struck hard enough, the mirror lens will crack. If you replace the mirror, you will incur a high cost because the whole mirror is a dealer part. You will also need to take the inner door apart to remove the bolts that secure the mirror to the door. You can avoid all of this by repairing the mirror. You can do this by replacing the broken part: the mirror lens.

  • Push the right side of the driver's mirror lens into the housing using your hand. If you are repairing the Pilot's passenger side mirror, push the left side of the mirror lens into the housing. This makes it easier for you to grab onto the mirror lens, because pushing one side of the mirror lens into the housing forces the other side out of the mirror housing.

  • Grab the mirror lens and pull outward on it. The mirror lens will pop off the mirror motor located inside the housing. You will not damage the mirror motor by pulling off the lens.

  • Place the brackets on the back of the new mirror around the mirror motor inside the housing and push back on the lens to secure the mirror onto the motor. Continue to push until you feel the mirror seat in place.
