How to Remove the Headlamp Assembly on a F350

F-Series trucks can trace their roots back to 1948, when the nameplate first appeared, but Ford, the maker of the F-Series, started manufacturing trucks years before. F-Series trucks come in several different weight categories. The F-350 is a 1-ton pickup that comes with either single or dual rear wheels and several different cab and bed lengths and configurations. The headlamp assembly on the F-350 is made form plastic and has a unified look within the surrounding grille and bumper assemblies. You can remove the headlamp assembly for repair or replacement.

Things You'll Need

  • Nut driver set
  • Turn the headlight switch off.

  • Open the hood.

  • Remove the four retaining bolts from the top, inboard side, and bottom of the headlamp assembly with a nut driver. Place the bolts aside.

  • Grasp the headlamp assembly by the edges and pull it straight out of its mounting bracket until the two retaining clips in the fender release. Do not pull the headlamp out too far, or the bulb wiring, which will still be attached to the rear of the assembly, could be stretched or damaged.

  • Press in on the release tab on the headlamp bulb wiring connector on the back side of the headlamp assembly. Move the connector forward and then backward to remove it from the headlamp. Remove the headlamp assembly from the front of the truck.
