How to Install Headlights on a 2007 Honda Civic SI

If you don't like the look of the headlights on your 2007 Honda Civic SI or they are broken or cracked, you can replace them yourself. The headlights house the headlight bulbs. You'll have to remove a few parts to access the headlights, but the process is straightforward, although it helps to have a friend to hold some heavy parts. This is good news for anyone who wishes to install headlights themselves rather than pay a mechanic.

Things You'll Need

  • Socket wrench set
  • Screwdriver
  • Car jack
  • Replacement headlight unit
  • 2 jack stands
  • Turn off your 2007 Honda Civic SI and raise it off the ground with your car jack and 2 jack stands.

  • Pry out the six snap pins below the bumper with a flathead screwdriver.

  • Prop open the hood and remove the two snap pins on either side of the grille.

  • Remove the two snap pins at the front of each wheel well, as well as the 8-mm bolts.

  • Pull the bumper off of the front of the Civic. Carefully pry it loose as it is pressure-fitted into the retaining cups.

  • Remove the bolt on top of the headlight assembly, the horizontal one on the fender side, and the one on the rear of the assembly.

  • Remove the snap pin on the top of the assembly to loosen the headlight assembly.

  • Disconnect the wiring harness and pull the headlight assembly loose from its cavity, but not all the way because one more bolt on the bottom still holds it in. Pull the headlight assembly enough to gain access to this last bolt and remove it. Pull the headlight assembly out of its cavity.

  • Install the replacement headlight unit. Reassemble your car by reversing the above steps.
