How to Adjust the Headlamps on a Jeep Grand Cherokee

If you've lifted or lowered your Jeep Grand Cherokee you will need to adjust the headlamps to ensure that your lights are not aimed too high or low. Your headlamps could potentially blind drivers in oncoming traffic if you choose not to adjust them to the right height. Or, if your headlamps are aimed too low, your vision may be impaired at night. Adjusting the headlamps requires no mechanical skill.

Things You'll Need

  • Torx T-15 tool
  • Position your car on a level surface 25 feet from your garage door or any other flat wall.

  • Turn your car's headlamps on. Make sure that the low beams are on and not the high beams.

  • Open the hood of your car and, if necessary, lift the headlamp covers up to expose the headlamp alignment screws.

  • Rotate the alignment screws using the Torx T-15 tool. Adjust the height of the beam to 3 feet above the ground.

  • Replace any covers you may have removed and close the hood of your vehicle.
