Chevrolet Suburbans equipped with power windows rely on window motors to provide the kinetic energy necessary to move the window glass. If the window motor seizes or otherwise malfunctions, you'll need to replace it as soon as possible to raise or lower the window. You can purchase a new motor through your local Chevrolet dealer or most automotive parts retailers. If you have basic automotive repair skills, you can install the motor yourself.
Pry the power window switch bezel out of the door panel with a trim tool. Unplug the switch from the wiring harness and set it and the bezel aside. Most auto parts retailers and professional tool vendors sell trim tools which are inexpensive.
Remove the screws from the door panel with a Phillips head screwdriver.
Lift the door panel up and off the door by hand. If the door has a courtesy light in it, unplug the light from the wiring harness, before moving the panel away from the door, to expose the access holes.
Push the window glass to the top of the window frame by hand. Tape the glass to the top of the window frame with packing tape to ensure the glass doesn't fall when you remove the window motor.
Unbolt the window motor from the door and the window regulator with a socket set. Unplug the motor from the wiring harness and pull it out of the door by hand.
Set the new motor in place and bolt it to the door and window regulator. Plug the wiring harness into the new motor.
Reinstall the door panel in the reverse of how you removed it. Peel the packing tape off the window glass.
