How to Install Wiper Blades on a Honda Element

Your Honda Element is equipped with 20-inch wiper blades on each side of your windshield. The Honda Element debuted in 2003 and uses the same size wiper blade in every model year. The wiper blades are important to keeping your field of vision clear in inclement weather. Honda recommends that you check your Element's wiper blades at least every six months. Replace them any time you see signs of damage or if they start leaving marks or missed areas on the windshield.

Things You'll Need

  • 20-inch wiper blade refills
  • Lift the wiper arm off the windshield of your Element. The arm will lock into place in a raised position.

  • Push in on the locking tab by raising the opposite end of the hook securing the wiper to the arm. Push the wiper blade assembly down toward the hood of the car.

  • Grab the end of the wiper blade with the tabs protruding on each side. Pull on the wiper until the tabs release. Remove the wiper blade insert from the assembly.

  • Compare the new wiper blade insert to confirm that the sizes match. Slide the new blade insert into the wiper blade assembly until it locks into place with the retaining tabs.

  • Hook the wiper blade assembly back onto the wiper arm. Slide the assembly back until the hook latches, securing the assembly. Lower the wiper arm until the blade reaches the windshield glass.

  • Repeat the process on the opposite wiper. Test the new wipers to ensure they are working properly.
