Repairing a spoiler is as easy as applying Bondo to the holes, sanding, priming and repainting the spoiler to match the color of the car. Bondo is the most common product employed by do-it-yourselfers to fix holes and other imperfections in the car bodies. Bondo is a two-part product that must be mixed before application. Do not mix any more than can be applied to the holes in less than five minutes or the mixed Bondo will be too hard to use.
Clean the surface around the holes in the spoiler with warm, soapy water and a dish scrubber to remove dirt, grease, grime, car wax and other contaminants. Allow the spoiler to dry.
Sand the spoiler around the holes with coarse (60- or 80-grit) sandpaper extending the sanded area 1 to 3 inches beyond the edge of the holes. Remove the dust and debris the sandpaper produced from the spoiler
Knead the tube of Bondo hardener for 30 seconds to mix the contents of the tube. Take a golf ball-sized amount of Bondo putty out of the can and dispense a 1-1/4-inch ribbon of hardener onto the ball. Knead the two ingredients together until the Bondo becomes a uniform color.
Firmly press the mixed Bondo onto the surface of the spoiler, covering the holes. Firm pressure is required to ensure maximum adhesion.
Allow the Bondo to dry for 30 minutes. Sand the Bondo application down with 80-grit sandpaper so it is level with the surface of the spoiler.
Blend the edges of the Bondo application with the surface of the spoiler using 180- or 200-grit sandpaper.
Spray the repaired surface with two or three coats of high-quality, automotive paint primer. Allow the primer to dry in between coats. Sand the primer with 320- or 400-grit sandpaper in between coats.
Apply a high quality automotive paint to the spoiler that will match the color of the car with a HVLP sprayer.
