How to Remove Windshield Wiper Arms on a Dodge Van

More than other vehicle manufacturers, Dodge stuck with design features that worked for it, especially in its full-size vans. The method used to retain the windshield-wiper arms was unchanged for at least 20 years, so these instruction very likely apply to any full-size Dodge van still on the road.

Things You'll Need

  • Screwdriver
  • Locate the small tab at the base of the wiper arm.

  • Grasp the wiper arm about halfway between the mounting point and the wiper blade and lift away from the windshield as far as it will go without forcing.

  • Continue holding the wiper arm and rotate the retaining tab away from the wiper arm to the open position. You should be able to do this without tools, but if the tab is rusty it may help to use a flat-blade screwdriver to pry it open.

  • Lift the wiper arm off the pivot by gripping the round area at the base of the arm with your right hand, the shaft of the arm with your left hand and gently wiggling while lifting straight away from the pivot.
