Bondo glass contains fibers (fiberglass) and is used to cover holes in car bodies caused by small rust spots, minor dings, dents and pebble pitting. Bondo glass may be sanded 20 minutes after application. After sanding and repainting, the car can look new again.
Buy a quart of Bondo glass for around $15. It comes with red glass hardener and instructions. A quart of Bondo glass should be enough to complete minor repairs on your vehicle. Bondo glass comes with basic disposable plastic implements to make a small repair and a small tube of Bondo putty (see Resources below).
Prepare the surface to be repaired by sanding with a small rotary tool or a sanding block (a block of wood with sandpaper wrapped around it). Wipe surface after prep-sanding is complete.
Mix a small amount of Bondo glass with some hardener and mix well with the spatula provided, bearing in mind that you have a total of 5 minutes to complete the repair before the Bondo glass sets. Bondo will turn a dark green color when mixed thoroughly.
Allow Bondo to cure and sand the repair to your satisfaction using a dremel rotary sander or a sanding block. Wipe the sanded area down with a damp cloth. Use Bondo putty to fill in minor pin dents in your Bondo glass repair. Sand and paint to match the color of the vehicle.
