How to Replace a Power Mirror in a Kia Spectra

The Kia Spectra's complex power mirror and door panel construction makes it a replacement project for an experienced do-it-yourself vehicle owner. However, the project only requires a few basic tools for all model years.

Things You'll Need

  • Screwdriver
  • Wrench

Remove Old Mirror

  • Take the door inner cover off the panel. Remove the door handle cover and arm rest by taking out the screws.

  • Remove the Kia's door trim panel fastener and screws, and pull the trim panel out.

  • Detach all electrical connectors to windows, mirrors and locks.

  • Twist the mirror mounting nuts off.

  • Push both sides of the clip holding the mirror in, and pull the mirror assembly off the car.

Install New Mirror

  • Push the new mirror into place making sure the stabilizing clips snap into place.

  • Replace the mounting nuts.

  • Attach all electrical connectors including the Kia Spectra's new mirror.

  • Put the door trim panel back in place, add all screws, and put the door handle cover and arm rest back in place.
