2005 Volkswagon Jetta Oil Specs

Volkswagen's compact Jetta sedan, all new for 2005, boasted new styling and more luxurious interior appointments while keeping the sporty handling that had already earned it a loyal following. Of particular note was the expanded power train lineup, which eventually included three engines: a 2.5-liter five-cylinder, a 1.9-liter diesel and, in 2006, a 2-liter four-cylinder turbo.

2.5-Liter

  • The 2005 Jetta hass a 2.5-liter five-cylinder base engine that was new for 2005. This engine produces 150 horsepower at 5,000 revolutions per minute (rpm) and 170 foot-lbs. of torque at 3,750 rpm. Volkswagen recommends regular unleaded fuel, and the engine has an oil capacity (including filter) of 6.3 quarts (6 liters).

1.9-Liter TDI

  • The optional turbocharged direct injection (TDI) 1.9-liter four-cylinder diesel engine arrived shortly after 2005 Jetta production began. It has an output of 100 horsepower at 4,000 rpm and 177 foot-lbs. of torque between 1,800 and 2,400 rpm. It required diesel fuel. The engine has an oil capacity of 5.1 quarts (4.8 liters) with the filter.

2-Liter Turbo (2006)

  • The 2006 Jetta GLI debuted in late 2005 and shared its turbocharged 2-liter four-cylinder engine with the Audi A4. This engine produces 197 horsepower at 5,100 rpm and 207 foot-lbs. of torque at 1,800 rpm. It has an oil capacity of approximately 5 quarts (4.73 liters) with the filter.

Additional Information

  • The new range allowed the Jetta to offer sporty, economical and affordable variants of its new chassis. The 2005 Jetta also introduced an updated Volkswagen family design theme that gradually spread to the rest of the lineup.
