The intake air temperature sensor on your 1996 Honda Accord is threaded into the intake manifold. On the 2.2-liter engine -- which came standard on all trim levels in 1996 -- find it on the rear center of the engine, threaded into the lower left side of the intake manifold chamber. On the 2.7-liter engine -- which Honda offered as an option on the LX and EX trim levels --you'll find the IAT sensor on the top center of the engine, threaded into the right side of the intake manifold.
When you remove the old IAT sensor, make sure the O-ring comes out with it. Replace the O-ring and wrap the threads with sealing tape when you install the new sensor. Tighten the IAT sensor to 13 foot-pounds.
