When looking at the intake manifold for your 1998 Lincoln Town Car, number the bolts 1 through 9 in a clockwise direction, starting with the bolt on the front, opposite the thermostat. Set the manifold in place on new gaskets and then install these bolts finger-tight: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8 and 9. Install the ignition coils and tighten the coil bolts to 40 to 61 inch-pounds. Install the fuel injection supply manifold and tighten the studs to 71 to 106 inch-pounds. Install the crash bracket and loosely thread the bolt and the stud. Put the thermostat in the well. Install the thermostat housing and loosely thread the housing bolts.
Tighten the manifold bolts to 15 to 22 foot-pounds in this sequence: 8, 2, 7, 4, 9, 3, 6, 5, 1. Then tighten the crash bracket and thermostat housing bolts to 15 to 22 foot-pounds.
