2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer Problems

The Trailblazer is Chevrolet's sport utility vehicle that is based on a more compact platform than the Suburban and Tahoe. The 2003 model year has seen a few recalls for various systems. If your 2003 Trailblazer has not been covered under warranty, see a local Chevrolet dealer to have the recall work performed.

Turn Signals

  • Drivers have reported problems with the turn signals of the 2003 Trailblazer. As driver's have turned the signal lever up or down to signal a turn, the vehicle's hazard lights have switched on instead of the turn signals. Chevrolet has issued a recall for all the affected vehicles, including similar Oldsmobile and Buick models.

Brake Problems

  • Some 2003 Trailblazers have been recalled for a problem in the brake line located at the front driver's side wheel. Chevrolet says a flaw in the manufacturing process of the lines caused some to be partially severed during assembly of the vehicle. Over time the split in the pipe can become more severe, reducing the effectiveness of the brakes and making the brake pedal depress farther than normal.

Windshield Wipers

  • Some 2003 Trailblazers have reportedly had problems with their windshield wipers. Some windshield wiper systems will not turn on at all or will quit working in mid-operation. Some moisture-sensing wiper systems have malfunctioned, causing the wipers to activate when no moisture is present on the windshield or to operate continuously no matter the conditions. The problem has caused Chevrolet to issue a recall on all affected Trailblazers.

Brake Light

  • On certain 2003 Trailblazers a brake light problem has caused bulbs powering the brake lights to flicker or stop working. The problem has been attributed to heat and vibration combined causing the brake light bulbs to become loose in their sockets. The problem increases the risk of a collision from a vehicle traveling behind the Trailblazer unable to see the vehicle is braking. Chevrolet has issued a recall for all affected Trailblazers to correct the problem.
