Taking the stereo out of a 2003 Toyota Corolla requires taking the decorative dash panels off the dash to access the screws holding the stereo in place. The radio can be removed and replaced in no time with the proper adapter brackets and wiring harnesses. Use caution when removing the console trim--it is a hard plastic, and too much force will snap it and render it useless.
Disconnect the battery.
Unclip the panel surrounding the gear shifter by pulling up on it gently. Lift the panel up and over the shifter.
Pull the air conditioner knob off the console.
Remove the screw that was exposed when the knob was pulled off.
Unclip the trim around the air conditioning assembly. Gently pull the trim off. This exposes the bolts securing the radio to the dash.
Remove the four exposed 10 mm bolts with a socket wrench. Pull out the radio and the surrounding trim panels.
Unclip the trim and air conditioner vents from around the radio.
Unplug the wiring harness at the back of the radio. Pull the antenna cable out of the back corner of the unit. Now you can remove the radio.
