The stock radio installed in a 2006 Toyota Corolla is fairly basic compared to the aftermarket stereos available for sale today. It doesn't have much in the way of features, such as the Bluetooth, iPod connections or navigation found in stereos produced by other companies. Installing a new stereo with new features can potentially bring up the resale value of the Corolla, while adding a better experience for you. You must first remove your old stereo before you can put in your new one.
Place the nylon pry bar in the gap between the trim around the shifter and the center console. Pop up the trim using the pry bar and then set the panel to the side.
Pull each climate control knob off the climate controls with your hands. Place the nylon pry bar between the climate controls and the dashboard on the sides. Pry back the climate control panel and pull it off of the dash. Lean it back to rest on the shifter.
Unbolt the four bolts underneath the stereo using the 1/4-inch ratchet and socket. Pull the radio assembly out of the dash by hand, then unplug the connections on the backside. Take the stereo out of the car.
