How to Connect an MP3 in a 2006 Chevy Equinox

The 2006 Chevy Equinox features either a CD player or a cassette player, depending upon which model you purchased. Although the 2006 Chevy Equinox does not feature a direct audio input for your MP3 player, you can connect an MP3 player in a 2006 Chevy Equinox via an adapter.

Things You'll Need

  • FM transmitter (for CD player)
  • Cassette adapter (for cassette player)

CD Player

  • Plug the audio input end of the FM transmitter into your MP3 player.

  • Plug the other end of the FM transmitter into your 2006 Chevy Equinox's power adapter.

  • Turn on your MP3 player, and tune your 2006 Chevy Equinox's FM radio to a fuzzy radio station. Tune the FM transmitter to the same station. Your MP3 music is transmitted over the radio station through your 2006 Chevy Equinox's car stereo.

Cassette Player

  • Plug the audio input end of the cassette adapter into your MP3 player.

  • Insert the cassette tape part of the cassette adapter into your 2006 Chevy Equinox's cassette drive with the cord connected to your MP3 player facing outward.

  • Set your 2006 Chevy Equinox to play the cassette, then turn on your MP3 player. Your MP3 music is transmitted through the cassette tape into your car stereo.
