How to Install a Pivot Raizin Voltage Stabilizer

A voltage stabilizer -- or regulator -- is placed on a current circuit next to the power source. The purpose of a stabilizer is to convert an irregular current of voltage, filter it and discharge the current at a constant rate. This is necessary because power sources -- car batteries for example -- discharge erratic voltage that can affect performance or damage electrical circuits and motors. Audio devices and electronics are particularly sensitive to inconsistencies in voltage.

Things You'll Need

  • Double-sided tape
  • Wrench set
  • Nuts
  • Mount the Pivot Raizin voltage stabilizer to a flat surface inside the engine bay with double-sided tape. The battery cage or the inside of the wheel well are both appropriate locations. Regardless of where you mount the stabilizer, make certain the cables reach the battery terminals.

  • Connect the positive cable from the stabilizer to the positive terminal C-clamp by sliding the eyelet of the cable over the bolt that tightens the clamp and adding a nut behind it. The cable eyelet is pinched between the cable nut and the nut on the C-clamp. Tighten the nut down with a wrench.

  • Position the earth terminal on the bolt of the negative battery terminal by sliding the eyelet of the terminal over the bolt, and screw a nut on behind it. Attach the earth cables. Slide a bolt through the eyelet of each cable, then put the bolts through the holes in the earth terminal and fasten them down with nuts.

  • Remove one bolt from the cylinder head, the alternator, the distributor and the bulk head. Slide the eyelets of the earth cables -- one for each -- over the bolts of each and replace the bolts in their respective positions.
