According to Hypertech, you cannot update your car with a Hypertech programmer when you get the error code 6D. Every vehicle has a specific programmer designed for it. When you plug the Hypertech programmer into your car and the programmer displays the 6D error code, it means the programmer was not designed for your car.
Contact Hypertech technical support at 901-382-8888 between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Central Time Monday through Friday.
Advise the representative that you get the error 6D when you plug your Hypertech programmer into your car. They will ask you for the Hypertech serial number and the make/model of car. This will confirm to the representative that your programmer does not work for your car. They will provide you with an RMA- return merchandise authorization number and a return address.
Package the Hypertech programmer into a box, place the RMA number on the outside of the box and return the package to the address given to you by the Hypertech representative. They will send you a replacement that will work for your car.
