Mercedes Benz Satellite Radio Installation

If your Mercedes Benz did not come with a satellite radio system you can install an aftermarket system. You will be able to save some money by installing the satellite radio system on your own instead of paying for expensive labor. You will be able to install the unit in less than an hour and you do not need any sort of technical expertise to do so.

Things You'll Need

  • Satellite radio receiver
  • Satellite radio mounting stand
  • Satellite antenna
  • Ladder
  • Digital audio cable
  • Duct tape
  • Set up your ladder next to the back left door of your Mercedes Benz. Climb to the top of the ladder in order to gain safe access to the roof of your Mercedes. Search the roof for a good spot to place your satellite radio antenna. Choose a stable and flat spot with nothing blocking the antenna. Use the adhesive glue on the bottom of the antenna to stick it in place.

  • Open the front left door of your vehicle and choose the spot where you will place your satellite radio mounting stand. You will need to attach it to a flat, level area that does not impede your vision or block any important driving motions. There will be four suction cups on the bottom of the mounting stand, use these to hold the stand in place. Slide the satellite radio receiver unit into the mounting stand.

  • Take the digital audio cable and plug it in to the back of your satellite antenna. Pull this antenna along the side of your roof and drop it through the window molding on the front passenger door. In order to make a space for the cord peel off the molding slightly, push the cord through and then replace the molding. Once inside the cabin tape the cord to the inside roof of your Mercedes and pull it down to the receiver and plug into the area on the back marked antenna in.
