My Altima Remote Won't Work

Nissan vehicles feature keyless entry capabilities, and the Altima is among the models that offer this technology. With this system, you can control your car's door lock, the trunk release and the panic alarm from as far as 200 feet away. If your remote won't work, you can replace the battery and reprogram the system to get it working again in just a few minutes.

  • Pop open the remote case with a flat blade. You can do this by loosening around the edges of the case, and then placing the blade in one spot to pry open the case gently.

  • Notice the position and location of the battery and gently lift it out. Insert a new battery in the same spot and snap the case back together.

  • Enter your car with your remote, close all of the doors behind you and unlock the car doors.

  • Insert and remove your key from the ignition six times in ten seconds and wait for the hazard lamps to flash. Insert your key again and turn it to the "ACC" position.

  • Press any button on your remote and wait for the hazard lamps to flash again to program the remote to the device. Remove your key from the ignition to end the process.
