How to Program HomeLink Buttons in a Ford Expedition

Like other Ford vehicles, the Expedition can be equipped with an onboard remote systems to control your garage door opener. This SUV can have the system installed at the dealership standard, or it can be included aftermarket and is used to control your garage door opener's motor. You can then use the onboard system to open and close the motor from inside your Expedition, as long as you are within a couple hundred feet of the garage.

  • Enter your Expedition with the garage-opener remote and start the engine.

  • Press the two outer buttons of the three buttons on your onboard HomeLink system in your Expedition. Continue holding the button until the small red LED light on the onboard system starts flashing slowly.

  • Hold your opener remote by the HomeLink system. Press and hold the "Open" button on the remote. Be prepared to hold it through the next steps.

  • Hold the button you would like to program on your system at the same time as your opener remote button. Hold both buttons until the LED light on the HomeLink system starts flashing more rapidly.

  • Press and hold the "Trained" button on your HomeLink system until the light switches off. This signals the end of the programming.
