The intake manifold needs to be completely removed from the engine before you can proceed with painting it. It must also be completely cleaned and free of all engine dust, oil, dirt and any other debris. Use heat-resistant primer and paint to keep the paint from fading and chipping throughout the life of the paint job. Just about anyone can paint the intake manifold in about six hours.
Remove the intake manifold from the vehicle using the ratchet set. Clean the intake manifold using the degreaser. Clean the degreaser off of the intake manifold using the warm water and the soap. Dry the intake manifold completely using the towel.
Apply one coat of heat-resistant auto primer to the entire surface of the intake manifold and let it dry for one hour. Apply the second coat of primer and let it dry for 45 minutes.
Apply three coats of heat-resistant auto paint to the entire surface of the intake manifold, allowing each coat of paint to dry for one hour before you apply the next coat. Allow the paint to completely dry in a clean, dry place.
