Lincoln Town Car Remote Start Procedures

After being first introduced in the mid-1990s, remote entry and remote start technologies became standard options on automobiles around the world. Among the cars from Lincoln that offer this capability is the Town Car, which allows you to remotely access your starter, door locks, trunk and panic alarm. The remote can start your car from as far away as a couple hundred feet, and can be easily programmed once the transmitter is installed. You can program and use your remote in just minutes from your home with no previous training.

Beginning the Programming Sequence

  • To program your keyless entry and remote start remote for your Lincoln Town Car, enter your car with the remote and the ignition key. Sit in the driver's seat and close all of the doors and the trunk behind you. Next, open the driver's side door and press the unlock tab on the door. Insert the key into the ignition and turn the key in the ignition from the starting "Off" position to the "Run" position eight times in quick succession. End the eighth time on the "Run" position. The locks will now cycle to indicate that the programming is active.

Programming the Remote

  • Next, press any button on your keyless remote to program that remote to the transmitter. The locks will again respond by cycling. Within 20 seconds, press a button on any other remote to program them as well. When you have finished, turn the key in the ignition back to the "Off" position and the locks will cycle again to indicate the programming sequence is done.

Using the Remote

  • To unlock the driver's doors on your Lincoln Town Car, press the lock button once. To unlock all of the car's door, double-tap the unlock button. To local all of the doors, simply press the lock button once. You can pop the trunk by pressing and holding the trunk button on the remote. To sound the panic alarm once, press the alarm button. To turn the alarm on, hold the button. To turn it back off, press and hold the button while it is on.

To remote start your car, first press the lock button and then press and hold the ignition button for about three seconds until the car starts. The car will remain pre-started for 10 minutes. To turn off the automatic ignition while it is on, press the lock button again and press and hold the auto-ignition button.
