How to Program a Ridgeline Keyless Entry Remote

Since the mid-1990s, many cars around the world have been equipped with keyless entry remotes programmed for cars. Keyless remotes, also offered on the popular Honda Ridgeline SUV, allow owners to start their engine, pop their trunk, unlock their doors or sound their horn remotely, from as far as a few hundred feet from the vehicle. A keyless remote comes as standard equipment with some Ridgelines, or one can be purchased separately and programmed for the vehicle using Honda's standard programming instructions.

  • Enter your Ridgeline with all the remotes that you would like to program (up to three), sit in the driver's seat and make sure that the doors are closed and unlocked.

  • Insert your key into the ignition, and turn the key two clicks to the right to the "On" position.

  • Press the unlock or lock button on your keyless remote.

  • Turn your key back to the "Off" position and then back again to the "On" position.

  • Repeat steps 3 through 4 two more times, pressing the lock or unlock button on your remote and then turning the key back off and on. Do this a total of three times.

  • Press the lock or unlock button on your remote again and wait for the vehicle's locks to signal the programming sequence by emitting a clicking sound.

  • Press the lock button on your first remote to be programmed, wait for the locks to respond, and do the same with your next two remotes to program them into the car's memory. Your remotes will now be ready to use with your keyless entry system.
