Installing a clutch fork on your own can save you a significant amount of money in labor and installation costs. Installing a clutch fork properly is essential in that it will control the shifting of the vehicle while it is in motion and can cause severe injury if done improperly. While it may sound like a difficult process, it is actually quite simple if you follow the proper instructions.
Insert the clutch fork ball stud into the bell-housing. There will be part of the excess ball stud protruding from the bell-housing at this point in the process. This is normal.
Secure the throw out bearing onto the clutch fork and attach the clutch fork onto the ball stud. With these pieces installed on the ball stud, use your finger to simulate the clutch fork push rod by placing it in the dimple of the clutch fork while simultaneously pushing the clutch fork backwards until the throw out bearing moves forward and touches the pressure plate. This is the angle at which you want to install the clutch fork.
Mark the ball stud at the point where it is protruding from the bell-housing. Remove it from its place and cut it at the marked point using your fine tooth saw. Re-install the ball stud and secure it in place with a locking nut. Apply a small amount of grease to the head of the ball stud and re-attach the clutch fork to it. The clutch fork is now properly aligned and installed in the system.
