How to Clean Vinyl Fabric

The vinyl material found in most car interiors is popular because it's easy to clean and cheap to install. When it gets dirty, it's also simple to clean, and can be done without many expensive cleaners. But sometimes vinyl can get dirt in the grain, which can be a bit difficult to clean. With the proper cleaning tools and a little bit of elbow grease, you can clean even the most stubborn grime off of a vinyl surface.

Things You'll Need

  • Spray bottle
  • Mild soap or cleaning agent
  • Soft bristle brush
  • Sponge
  • Microfiber towel
  • Vinyl cleaner
  • Vinyl protectant
  • Fill the spray bottle with water and then add a mild detergent or cleaning agent to the mix. Spray the dirty vinyl surface and then scrub off any dirt or grime using the bristle brush. Dry with the microfiber towel.

  • Spray a vinyl cleaner on the affected surface. Buff this off using a microfiber towel with a circular motion.

  • Spray the vinyl protectant on the surface. Allow it to sit for 30 seconds, then wipe the microfiber towel over the surface. Make sure the protectant is on all surfaces; that way everything will stay protected.
