Installation of a Rostra Cruise Control

Cruise control allows you to maintain the speed and throttle of your vehicle at your own desired preference. Not all vehicles are equipped with cruise control and most new vehicles have it as an optional feature. Fortunately, you can install cruise control yourself to your vehicle using a Rostra cruise control kit. Rostra Precession Controls is a manufacturer of cruise control kits for various vehicles.

Things You'll Need

  • Rostra Cruise control kit
  • Cable ties
  • Screwdriver
  • 12 volt power adapter
  • Power source adapter
  • Open the hood of your vehicle and disconnect the battery.

  • Place the RF switch bracket below the steering shroud of your vehicle and place the RF switch onto the RF switch bracket.

  • Place the RF harness together with the receiver box and mount them behind the driver side dashboard with cable ties.

  • Detach the passenger center console panel and its screws with the use of a screwdriver, counterclockwise, and then detach the cover of the connector C2/J2 by pushing on its tabs. You will now be able to see its wires.

  • Take off your vehicle’s terminal lock off of the wire pins and take off your vehicle’s connector from its Body Control module, exposing a green terminal lock. Press the green terminal lock’s tabs and take off the green terminal lock away from its connector.

  • Combine the gray RF harness wire with the connector, having the computer terminal pin at position 61, and then use the T-Taps that come with the Rostra’s cruise kit to attach the red RF harness wire to a 12-volt power adapter; to attach the blue RF harness wire to a power source adapter; and to attach the black RF harness wire to the vehicle’s ground terminal wires.

  • Mount the battery, center console panel, connector cover, and terminal locks back to your vehicle.
