How do I Adjust the RC Power Valve on a Honda CR 250?

The Honda CR 250 is a motorcycle specifically designed for motocross racing and stunts. It was manufactured from 1971 until 2008. It has a two-stroke engine and a revolution controlled (RC) valve that is controlled electronically. This allows the rider to increase the power output when needed. The RC valve is connected to the engine with a set of cables that wear out easily. You can repair the power valve yourself, without having to take the motorcycle to a repair shop.

Things You'll Need

  • Wrench
  • Ruler
  • Locate the RC valve. There are two cables that connect to the engine. When looking at it from the back of the bike, you want the cable on your right. Follow it from the engine to the valve that it connects to. This is the RC valve.

  • Turn the valve clockwise with the wrench until it will not turn any more. Move the cable around until it is 12 mm from the top of the valve.

  • Go around to the other side of the bike and adjust the left cable, tightening its connection to the valve. It needs to be tight, but not so tight that it appears to be stretched.

  • Tighten up the valve by turning it counterclockwise. Once it will not turn anymore, it is tight enough.
