How to Install an Eclipse Power Antenna

If you are having problems with the power antenna on your Eclipse it may be time to replace it. You can pay a mechanic to do this for you, but it does not take as much time as you may think to do it on your own. You do not need to know much about electronics in order to complete the process, but knowledge of basic mechanical repair is very helpful.

Things You'll Need

  • Antenna wrench
  • Open the trunk of your Eclipse in order to gain access to the power antenna.

  • Use your antenna wrench (available from most auto supply stores) to loosen the circular metal bezel at the base of the antenna. Slide the bezel, along with the rubber guard, off of the antenna.

  • Pull the antenna down so that it is facing away from the car and gently slide the antenna out of the antenna compartment.

  • Unplug the wiring at the base of the antenna assembly and set the old antenna aside.

  • Plug the wiring into the assembly base of the new power antenna.

  • Angle the antenna so that the base is pointed in toward the car and slide it in the compartment until it won't go any further.

  • Slide the bezel and guard over the antenna until it reaches the top of the compartment and use the antenna wrench to tighten the bezel.
