How to Set Up an Edelbrock Carburetor

The Edelbrock carburetor is known for its easy setup and it is one of the most popular high-performance carburetors in automobiles. Edelbrock has been in operation since the 1940s and the manufacturing company provides high quality automotive parts in the United States. Set up an Edelbrock carburetor to improve the performance of your vehicle and its reliability. New Edelbrock carburetors do not need any adjustments; however, the carburetor is easy to adjust, if deemed necessary.

  • Inspect the top of intake manifold where your carburetor sits. This is to ensure the carburetor is free from oil, dirt, debris and other substances.

  • Install the base gasket. Slide the carburetor's base gasket over the four studs on intake manifold. Never use gasket sealer or silicon to secure the base gasket.

  • Place the carburetor on the four studs. The studs are at the top of the intake manifold. The red Edelbrock symbol should be facing the front of your vehicle.

  • Screw the four nuts on the four studs to secure your Edelbrock carburetor. Do not over tighten when you screw in the nuts. This will cause damage to the base gasket.

  • Attach the throttle cable. You attach the throttle cable to the throttle linkage found on the Edelbrock carburetor's driver's side. The throttle linkage has multiple holes you can attach the throttle cable to. Attach the throttle cable in one of the holes to secure the cable. You can secure it with a nut, bolt or a clip.

  • Connect fuel line to Edelbrock carburetor. Attach the fuel line to the huge metal flare located on the carburetor's passenger's side. Use a clamp to secure fuel line.
