How to Install a Dodge RAM Wiper Linkage

The windshield wipers on your Dodge Ram truck connected by linkage to the wiper motor. Small pivots within the linkage convert the rotation of the wiper motor into back-and-forth movement to power the wiper arms. When the linkage malfunctions, the wiper motor's rotary power cannot be properly translated into wiper motion. As such, windshield wiper malfunction does not always indicate a faulty wiper motor. Changing the wiper linkage at the first sign of slippage will ensure that your wipers continue to work when they are needed most.

Things You'll Need

  • Ratchet and socket
  • Disconnect the battery cable with a ratchet and socket.

  • Pull the wiper arm up until it locks, then unbolt it using a ratchet and socket. Unbolt and remove the wiper motor with a ratchet and socket, then unbolt the wiper linkage bracket that connects the two wiper linkages together. Remove the wiper linkage.

  • Insert the new linkage in place. Bolt the linkage bracket, wiper motor and wiper arm back in place with a ratchet and socket.

  • Reconnect the battery cable with the ratchet and socket.
