How to Replace Wheel Horse Tires

Replacing the tires on a Wheel Horse Tractor is necessary when the tires become damaged by use over time. Removing and reinstalling replacement tires can easily be done yourself. It is necessary to replace the smaller components, such as cotter pins and washers, as well as the tire itself.

Things You'll Need

  • Jack
  • Jack stands
  • Flat-head screwdriver
  • Replacement cotter pins
  • Replacement tires
  • Replacement washers

Instructions

  • Lift the tractor off the ground with a jack. Place jack stands underneath the frame for stability.

  • Remove the dust caps off the tires. If necessary, use a flat-head screwdriver to pry them off.

  • Remove the cotter pins on both sides of the tires. Remove the washers. Pull off the tires and place to the side.

  • Install the new tires by placing them onto the wheel assembly of the wheel horse.

  • Replace the washers, placing the new washers onto the wheel assembly. Install the replacement cotter pins into the wheel assembly, and push the dust cap back into place.

  • Remove the jack stands and lower the wheel horse back to the ground.
