My 2007 Chevy Tahoe LTZ Won't Start and the Battery Is Fine

The 2007 Chevy Tahoe has a well-documented failure-to-start defect. General Motors issued a Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) that involved a reflash of the engine computer to correct this problem. 2007 Tahoe owners should contact their local Chevy dealer to set up an appointment for the vehicle to receive the software update to help resolve this issue.

  • Ensure that no electronic devices are causing parasitic losses in your truck. Cell-phone chargers, DVD players, satellite radio displays, GPS devices and other electronics drain the battery of a car. If these devices are left on, they will eventually drain the battery down to the point where it does not hold sufficient charge to start the truck. Make sure any devices you have are fully switched off before exiting the vehicle.

  • Contact General Motors to obtain a copy of TSB 07033b. The 2007 trucks suffer from defective computer programming, which GM has corrected via Technical Service Bulletin TSB 07033b. The bulletin states that 2007 vehicles with non-start conditions require computer reprogramming.

  • Check your truck's vehicle identification number. TSB 07033b applies to vehicles with a VIN between 7J177482 and 7J270240, or between 7R205597 and 7R297218.

  • Contact your local dealership to schedule a service visit. It is advisable to bring along a paper copy of TSB 07033b for the dealer to see.
